During the last few years we have been working hard to raise funds for the much needed new playground. We have recently commited to donating £6,000 towards the total cost of the work being carried out (which is estimated at a staggering £30,000). The school have now received almost £10,000 of donations towards this – but there is still a long way to go!
Obviously the playground has been our main aim – however, we haven’t lost sight of the fact that the children in school need funding in other areas too. That’s why, to date, during 2010 we have provided funding for the following:
- The cost of hiring the Life Education Bus
- Paid for additional small play equipment (hoops, balls etc.)
- £10 subsidy per child towards the cost of a school trip – trips already planned include a Theatre trip for Rec/Yr1; Trip to Chester for Yr2/3 (linked to Roman Topic); Trip to Lake District for Yr5 (linked to Mountain topic)
- £50 per class petty cash for teachers to buy additional accessories for lessons (that are currently outside of the school budget)
- Yr6 Leavers Event – 2010 event was held at The Villa, Wrea Green.
Now that the work on the school playground has begun we have been set a couple of new challenges!
1) Mrs potter asked if we could possibly raise some money for school staging eqpt. This would really aid the pupils in their productions and we can see everyone on stage safely without them balancing on PE benches etc. Ideally we could do to get this eqpt. for the summer for the leavers show and summmer productions. We need approx £1300.
2) New long term goal and project we need around £10000 -£12000 for school ict eqpt. This would mean the pupils would have access to laptops in their classes. Ideally 2 trolleys which hold 16 laptops each is our aim. We know this is a huge amount but we have a goal for our future events. So lets get fundraising!!
